Please check all positions you are nominating yourself for. *President: The President of the Gainesville-Chapter of the Association of Black Alumni is responsible for providing strategic leadership, fostering a sense of community, and promoting the interests of Black alumni within the University of Florida community. The President serves as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the Gainesville Chapter, guiding its initiatives, and cultivating strong relationships with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and external partners. This role requires a visionary leader committed to advancing the goals of the UFABA and enhancing the overall experience and opportunities for Black alumni at the University of Florida. The president will preside over board leadership and general body meetings (coordinating agends with executive board); help recruit, onboard and retain volunteers to build the board leadership pipeline; actively collaborate with partners to advance prorities as directed by the UFAA and UF; oversee the implementation of specific, measurable, and impactful alumni engagement that yields philanthropic investments of time, talent and treasure.President-Elect: The President-Elect shall perform the duties of President in the absence or disability of the President. The President-Elect shall be an active participant in Board conference calls and the routine business undertaken by the Board. The President-Elect shall perform ancillary duties assigned by the president to support the successful implementation of Board activities and initiatives. They shall recommend strategies to outreach to corporate and community partners, student groups, and community organizations to build support for ABA programs, activities, and initiatives.Treasurer: The Treasurer shall assist in the oversight of funds of the Association. The Treasurer shall keep a full and accurate account of the organization’s receipts and expenditures, and shall make disbursements as authorized by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall lead Board efforts to identify fundraising strategies that support the ABA-Gainesville Operating Fund and other aspirational fundraising objectives approved by the ABA-Gainesville Board of Directors.Secretary: The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the Association and of the Board of Directors and shall ensure a record is maintained that documents the major activities, initiatives, and programs undertaken by the Board. The Secretary shall perform such other duties as may be delegated by the Board.NONE OF THESEOne Year Term Positions Available (Term will begin July 1, 2024 and end on June 30, 2025) Please check all positions you would like to nominate yourself for. *Vice President, Communications: The Vice President of Communications is responsible for managing external communications including public and media relations, social media, website maintenance, newsletter, blog, graphic design, and overall creative direction and engagement.Vice President, New Student Recruitment: The Vice President of New Student Recruitment is responsible for building rapport with potential UF students through college fairs and other outreach events. This role will serve as the chapter’s representative for Destination ABA.Vice President, Student Engagement: The Vice President of Student Engagement is responsible for building rapport with current UF students through advocacy of student issues and engagement with key campus student groups. This role will serve as the point person for the chapter’s scholarship process, including communicating scholarship deadlines with students, developing the application, convening a committee to review applicants, selection of scholarship winner(s) and communicating with scholarship recipients.Vice President, Alumni Outreach: The Vice President of Alumni Outreach assists in increasing ABA and UFAA membership. This role is responsible for promoting UFAA membership benefits at events, including assisting with identifying incentives for UFAA members. The Vice President of Alumni Outreach is also responsible for fundraising efforts for ABA in conjunction with the Treasurer. This role will serve as the chapter’s representative for ABA’s signature Black Alumni Reunion committee.At-Large Member: Serves or performs various social, operational, programmatic or functional needs of the chapter either at meetings or events.
